Biography

Natasha Kuhrt is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London, specializing in International Peace and Security. She holds a Bachelor's degree with honors in Russian and German language literature, an MA in Soviet Studies, and a Ph.D. from University College London, focusing on Russian policy towards China and Japan. Since joining King's College in 2002 as a visiting lecturer, she has been a full-time faculty member since 2009, where she conducts courses on international law and intervention, as well as gender and nationalism in the context of Russian discourse. Dr. Kuhrt established the British International Studies Association Working Group on Russian and Eurasian Security in 2011 and is actively involved in research regarding Russian and Eurasian security, international law, and humanitarian intervention. Her current research explores the nexus of Russian activism in Africa, UN peacekeeping missions, and comparative populism in a UK-Japan project, while she collaborates on various projects, including a book on Russian foreign policy. She has published extensively, including contributions to edited volumes and peer-reviewed journals covering topics in her research areas.
