Natasha Maddox is a Senior Lecturer in Astrophysics at the University of Bristol. Her research primarily uses optical and radio telescopes to observe and understand galaxy evolution. She works with large datasets containing millions of galaxies, focusing particularly on multi-wavelength observations, especially incorporating radio wavelengths. Natasha completed her undergraduate MSci degree in Physics at the University of Victoria and obtained her PhD in Astronomy from the University of Cambridge. The topic of her PhD thesis involved near-infrared selection of luminous quasars, where she created a photometric redshift code to efficiently select quasar candidates for spectroscopic follow-up. Over her career, she has held research positions in Germany, the Netherlands, and South Africa, and she is a member of the MeerKAT Large Survey Programmes. Natasha’s current research includes leading various projects, including one supported by the Royal Society Research Grant to complete a census of cold gas over 4 billion years of lookback time. She is also involved in supervising final year BSc and MSci projects, and lectures a course on Stars and Planets.
