Biography

Cira Lab is developing technologies to enable new scales of experimental throughput using untangled complex biological systems. These biological systems involve interactions among large numbers of components, and biology's pressing questions involve understanding the properties that emerge from this complexity. Key questions include, 'How do combinations of microbial species result in community stability?' and 'How do genetic variants combine to give resistance or susceptibility to disease?' Additionally, understanding how RNA expression levels give rise to different cell types is crucial. Answering these questions requires a number of experiments commensurate with the complexity of the systems studied.
