Biography

Nate Veldt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics with a concentration in Computational Science from Purdue University, which he obtained in 2019. Veldt also earned a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Purdue University and Wheaton College, respectively. His research interests include Graph Algorithms, Network Science, Matrix Computations, Computational Optimization, and Data Science with a focus on Machine Learning. He has received several awards recognizing his contributions to undergraduate teaching and research, including the Montague-CTE Scholar award for excellence in undergraduate teaching in 2025, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research Young Investigator Award in the same year, the SIAM Applied Computational Discrete Algorithms Early Career Prize in 2023, and the Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundation Award in 2019. Veldt actively contributes to the academic community through his research and teaching efforts, aiming to impact the next generation of computational scientists.
