I have a background in mathematics and a Ph.D. in measurement and evaluation from the University of Ottawa. I have been a professor at the Faculty of Education at the University of Montreal since 2008. I teach courses in assessment, statistics, and generally on research methods. My research focuses on measurement models applied to data from tests or questionnaires, with a particular interest in the validity of data and instruments. I am interested in the assessment of complex skills such as problem solving in mathematics, clinical reasoning, or collaboration. The diagnostic purpose of assessment is at the heart of my work. Recently, I have added the contribution of artificial intelligence to educational issues to my research interests. I lead the Interuniversity Research Group on Assessment and Measurement in Education using Information and Communication Technologies and am a member of the interdisciplinary research group on cognition and professional reasoning at the University of Montreal.
