Biography

Nathan Caruana is a cognitive neuroscientist focused on examining the mechanisms that support positive social experiences in neurotypical development, autism, and schizophrenia. He has innovated interactive eye-tracking virtual reality (VR) paradigms to interface with human neuroimaging, neurophysiology, and behavioral methods. His methodologies have provided novel insights into how humans perceive, evaluate, and respond to social information within the context of reciprocal and dynamic collaborative interactions, while maintaining critical experimental control and objective measurement of social behavior and the corresponding brain processes. Besides researching social cognition, Nathan is involved in several literacy research projects investigating reading and spelling among adults and adolescents.
