Biography

I joined the Centre for Virus Research (CVR) as a member of the Genomics Group in 2024, leading the technical development of single-cell transcriptomics assays. My work includes the development and optimisation of protocols to propose viable and robust solutions for studying infection pathways. Previously, I received my PhD in Marine Biodiversity from the University of Aberdeen, where I led a project funded by the National Decommissioning Centre focused on developing and optimising technologies to identify species linked to oil and gas infrastructures. My aim was to democratise science by facilitating processes that characterise biodiversity. I have utilized technologies such as lateral flow assays, Sanger sequencing, high-throughput sequencing, and Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing platforms to characterise biodiversity and detect invasive species.
