Biography

Nathan Rossi is an Assistant Professor of Instruction at Northwestern University's School of Communication. His research adopts a critical/cultural studies approach and primarily focuses on Latinx studies, digital media, and Central American studies. Rossi's current book project is tentatively titled 'Digital Mestizaje: Unsettling Latinidad New Media Genealogy,' which examines how ancestry, genealogy, and racial/ethnic identity among Latinx individuals are increasingly mediated by digital technologies, including DNA testing kits. His work has been published in various journals such as Latino Studies, Critical Studies in Media Communication, Aztlán: Journal of Chicano Studies, and Environmental Communication. Recent publications include an analysis of streaming travel docuseries in relation to sustainability discourses, race, and geography, as well as explorations of queer emotion in media and the representation of Central American identities.
