Biography

Nathan Wilson has 15 years of experience in biomedical microsystems research. He has co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications and presented at international conferences focusing on medical imaging, bioengineering, computer modeling, and micro-electro-mechanical systems. Wilson has served as an invited panelist at FDA guidance meetings and is actively engaged in university research on computational modeling of blood flow. His research has appeared in the December 2013 issue of the Journal of Medical Devices. As a co-investigator on a joint UCSD-Berkeley grant funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), he leads the ongoing software development of SimVascular, an open-source code package co-developed with graduate students, utilized for cardiovascular disease research, medical device design, and surgical planning in leading university laboratories worldwide. He joined the UCLA Anderson faculty in 2012, where he teaches introductory classes on entrepreneurship and business plan development related to technology and science commercialization. Wilson has founded companies, including Cardiovascular Simulation Inc. in 2007 and the Open Source Medical Software Corporation in 2009, focusing on open-source medical software initiatives.
