Biography

Nathaniel Millington is a Presidential Fellow at the University of Manchester, affiliated with the Manchester Urban Institute. His research primarily focuses on the politics of the urban environment in the context of the climate crisis, with particular interests in governance regarding water and waste. Previously, he served as a postdoctoral fellow at the African Centre for Cities at the University of Cape Town and was a visiting researcher at the University of São Paulo, conducting extensive studies in São Paulo, Brazil, and South Africa. Millington dedicates his current research to understanding the relationships between the climate crisis, financial capital, and urban infrastructure in cities marked by significant inequality. He is also the managing editor of the Situated Urban Political Ecology webspace and serves as a board member for the AAG Urban Geography Specialty Group.
