Biography

Nathaniel Treister is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine, Infection, Immunity at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and completed his oral medicine certificate and oral biology doctoral training at Harvard. Treister is board certified in Oral Medicine and practices at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. With a special interest in oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland diseases, and oral complications in cancer patients, he has published extensively on oral complications arising from hematopoietic cell transplantation and chronic graft-versus-host disease. Currently, he is the director of HSDM's advanced graduate education in oral medicine program. His clinical research focuses on diagnosing and managing oral complications in cancer patients, collaborating closely with disease programs at Dana-Farber/Brigham Women's Cancer Center, particularly in hematologic malignancies, stem cell transplantation, and head and neck oncology.
