Dr. Nayyer Iqbal

Biography

Nayyer Iqbal is a Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Saskatchewan and a staff medical oncologist at the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, Saskatoon Cancer Centre. He graduated from Dow Medical College at the University of Karachi, Pakistan, and has training in pathology with an M.Phil from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. His research has focused on Hepatocellular Carcinoma and has led to significant contributions in clinical trials and oncology research in Canada and the UK. Iqbal has expertise in genitourinary malignancies and breast cancer, and has been involved in developing clinical guidelines and leading trials at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. He has received the W.H.O. International Fellow award and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, including as a contributor to the book 'Practical Clinical Oncology' by Cambridge University Press. Passionate about teaching, he seeks to enhance the undergraduate curriculum with research opportunities in solid tumors. He has also co-authored late-breaking abstracts presented at major oncology conferences and contributed to guidance on systemic therapies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
