Dr. Neeraj Sood

Biography

Neeraj Sood is a Professor at the USC Price School of Public Policy with joint appointments at the USC Keck School of Medicine and USC Marshall School of Business. He serves as the Director of the COVID Initiative and is a senior fellow at the USC Schaeffer Center. His research primarily focuses on economic epidemiology, including aspects of infectious diseases, pharmaceutical markets, health insurance, and health economics. He has published over 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals encompassing economics, medicine, and policy, with notable inclusions in JAMA, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Health Economics, Health Affairs, and the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management. Sood has provided expert testimony on health policy issues to the National Academy of Sciences and has received significant recognition for his contributions, including being a finalist for the National Institute for Health Care Management Health Care Research Award and the recipient of the Eugene Garfield Economic Impact Prize. His funding support comes from prestigious organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, World Bank, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Neeraj Sood also sits on the editorial boards of several journals and has prior experience as a senior economist at RAND and as a professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School.
