Biography

Neha Gondal is an Associate Professor at Boston University, within the Department of Sociology and the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences. Her research focuses on the application of mathematical computational techniques to explore the relationships within social networks and the role of culture in the production and maintenance of social inequalities. Professor Gondal employs a variety of computational methods, including exponential random graph models, machine learning, multi-level regression models, and agent-based simulations, to analyze topics such as moneylending in Renaissance Florence, inequalities in academia, public health issues related to housing developments in Boston, and organizational diversity management. Her work has received support from various NIH R01 grants and other fellowships. Professor Gondal is an elected council member of several sections of the American Sociological Association, including Economic Sociology and Mathematical Sociology. She has served on the editorial boards of leading journals in the discipline and is currently the deputy editor of the Journal of Health and Social Behavior.
