Dr. Neil Allen

Biography

Neil Allen is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester's Inns Court School of Law, where he has been teaching since 2003. He has a background as a barrister at 39 Essex Chambers, where he specializes in mental health and incapacity law. Neil's academic focus includes the Mental Health Act of 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act of 2005, particularly concerning legal frameworks surrounding liberty protection safeguards. He is recognized for his impactful roles in litigation, having participated in significant cases like N v ACCG in the Supreme Court. Recognized by the Legal500 Chambers and Partners Guide, he is noted for his academic rigor, practical advocacy, and ability to communicate complex legal issues effectively.
