Neil J. Hatfield is an Assistant Research Professor at Penn State. He obtained his PhD in Mathematics Education from Arizona State University in 2019, an MS in Education with a focus on Teaching Math from Northwest Missouri State University in 2011, and a BS in Mathematics from Doane University in 2009. His research primarily centers on Statistics Education, concentrating on how students think and learn statistical concepts. Additionally, Neil serves as the coordinator for the Statistics Data Science Education Working Group and is actively involved in the Research Undergraduate Mathematics Education Special Interest Group of the Mathematical Association of America. He has received several honors including the nomination for ASU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Outstanding Lecture of the Year and the Robert G. Maule Excellence in Teaching Mathematics Award.
