Biography

Neil Lambert's career began at King's College London's Labour Delivery Department. After a lengthy study leave at the University of Toronto, he graduated with a BSc in Mathematics and Physics in 1992. Returning to the UK, he pursued graduate studies at Cambridge and completed his PhD in String Theory under the guidance of Professor Paul Townsend in 1996. He held post-doctoral positions back at King's CollegeLondon's Theoretical Physics Group, as well as at ENS Paris and Rutgers University in the USA. From 2000 to 2005, he held a PPARC Advanced Fellowship at King's, was appointed as a Lecturer, and was elected Chair in 2009. Between 2010 and 2013, he served as a staff physicist at CERN. Currently, Neil is an editor for Physics Letters B (PLB) and chairs the Fundamental Physics UK STFC-funded virtual centre. His work primarily focuses on String Theory and M-Theory, exploring fundamental quantum theories capable of describing the known physics of the universe. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of multiple M2-branes and their associated Lagrangian gauge field theories, and has studied non-supersymmetric branes which offer intriguing links to quantum field theory. Neil's research output reflects a dedication to advancing knowledge in supersymmetry and associated theoretical constructs.
