Dr. Neil Lawrence

Biography

Neil Lawrence is a DeepMind Professor of Machine Learning at the University of Cambridge and a Visiting Professor at the University of Sheffield. His research interests primarily focus on probabilistic models and their applications in computational biology and personalized health. Neil is actively involved in various initiatives aimed at advancing the field of artificial intelligence, including the Accelerate Science Programme, which seeks to accelerate scientific progress through machine learning and AI. He has also organized recurring workshops and summer schools, including the Gaussian Process Summer Schools, to engage with the community and disseminate knowledge in data science. His contributions to academia are further complemented by his involvement in initiatives exploring new models of data governance, like the Data Trusts Initiative.
