Biography

Neil Sandham is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Southampton, a position he has held since 1999. He completed his PhD at Stanford University in 1989 and has also worked at DLR Göttingen and Queen Mary, University of London. His expertise is in numerical simulation and transitional turbulent flows across the full range of speeds from incompressible to hypersonic. He is currently involved in several significant research projects, including transonic airfoil flows and the impact of surface roughness on high-speed aerodynamics. He is a founding principal investigator of the UK Turbulence Consortium and has served as the head of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Southampton. Sandham has a strong research focus on high-performance computing and has published extensively in these areas.
