Neil Wells manages the Chemistry NMR Spectroscopy facility at the University of Southampton where he teaches a variety of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, primarily focusing on NMR spectroscopy and analytical methodologies. He completed his BSc in Chemistry in 1996 at the University of Southampton and continued his research under the supervision of Professor Mark Bradley, culminating in his MRes and PhD degrees. His MRes thesis dealt with the solid-phase synthesis of PAMAM dendrimers, enhancing resin loading in combinatorial chemistry. This theme was further developed during his PhD studies, where he synthesized libraries of ecdysteroid analogues and investigated the radical cyclisation of resin while employing HR-MAS NMR techniques for reaction monitoring. After earning his PhD, Neil began working with Mrs. Joan Street at the NMR Spectroscopy Facility and has held his current position since October 2009.
