Neil Wilson is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick. His research focuses on condensed matter physics, with a particular emphasis on nanomaterials like graphene and two-dimensional materials. Having graduated from the Natural Sciences Tripos at Pembroke College, Cambridge in 1999, he pursued his Master's at the University of Pennsylvania, under the supervision of renowned professors Charlie Kane and Gene Mele. He completed his PhD at the University of Warwick in 2004, working on electronic transport in single-wall carbon nanotubes. Wilson has extensive experience in scanning probe microscopy, having developed methods for the structural and electrical characterization of nanomaterials. Since joining Warwick in 2007 as an Assistant Professor, he has progressed to an Associate Professor in 2012 and a full Professor in 2019. Apart from his research, Neil engages in outreach activities, demystifying microscopy and nanotechnology for school children and the public, and contributes to various committees within the Institute of Physics and the Royal Microscopical Society.
