Biography

Neil Zhao is an Assistant Professor in the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He specializes in computer architecture, hardware/system security, and cloud computing, with a focus on practical microarchitectural side-channel attack defenses in production cloud environments and confidential computing in clouds. Neil received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2024, where he was advised by Professor Josep Torrellas. Before his doctoral studies, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2018.
