Biography

Nella Geurts is an assistant professor who studies the inclusion and exclusion experiences of migrants in Western Europe. Currently, she is exploring the role of family religiosity in the social inclusion of Syrian women in the Netherlands, alongside examining the political inclusion of various migrant groups in Western Europe. Nella's research journey includes a dissertation on the integration paradox among migrants, employing a mixed-methods design to understand the discrepancy where individuals with a higher socio-economic status often feel a lower sense of belonging in their country of residence. She prefers combining methods of data analysis, including survey data and in-depth interviews. Additionally, Nella serves as an editor for the journal Mens & Maatschappij. Her research interests encompass Inclusion, integration, migration, transnationalism, and mixed methods.
