Biography

Nelly Romani Vestman works as an Associate Professor and senior consultant dentist in the School of Dentistry at Umeå University. She also serves as an associated researcher at the Wallenberg Centre for Medicine. Nelly's practice as a specialist in endodontics, located at Norrlands universitetssjukhus in Sweden, combines clinical work with research, where she is involved in supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her research interest was sparked during her PhD studies and further developed during a research visit at the Forsyth Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, known for being a leading center for dental and craniofacial research. Nelly is particularly focused on the clinical challenges of treating immature infected teeth in young individuals and has a keen interest in utilizing translational approaches in basic research to develop new biological treatments aimed at preserving children’s natural dentition in the face of trauma. Since January 1, 2016, she has been engaged in research projects addressing the question of how to assist children with traumatized teeth.
