Biography

Nelson Chan received his medical degree from the University of Toronto and completed his family medicine residency at Western University. He earned his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science (Immunology) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto. Chan has a comprehensive clinical practice that includes office-based work, clinic procedures, and hospitalist medicine, as well as palliative care in home and hospital settings. He has a strong passion for medical education and has served as the Director of the Western Urban Program for six years. His research focuses on skill acquisition and retention in skin biopsy techniques for family medicine residents. Chan has taken on leadership roles, including Board Member of the Ontario College of Family Physicians (Secretary-Treasurer for several years), Family Medicine Curriculum Renewal Lead at Western, and Medical Director of Sisters St. Josephs Family Health Organization.
