Biography

Nema Abdelazim is a Lecturer at the University of Southampton, specializing in Sustainable Electronic Technologies within the School of Electronics and Computer Science. He obtained his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the City University of Hong Kong in October 2017, under the supervision of Prof. Andrey Rogach, where his research focused on infrared colloidal quantum dots and their optoelectronic applications. Following his doctoral studies, Nema served as a postdoctoral researcher in the Quantum Young group at Lancaster University from January 2018, working on quantum security devices. In 2020, he joined the University of Southampton, where he is involved in projects related to 2D Layered Transition Metal Dichalcogenide (TMDC) Semiconductors and Non-Aqueous Electrodeposition. Nema is an author and co-author of 25 publications in high-impact journals, including ACS Nano and Nature Scientific Reports, and holds 2 patents. His research group focuses on experimental quantum nanotechnology, with particular interest in applications of quantum dots and 2D materials, developing photonic and electronic devices such as field effect transistors, solar cells, and plasmonic devices.
