Biography

Nestor M. Davidson is the Emma Bloomberg Professor of Real Estate at Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he investigates fundamental questions surrounding the transactional dynamics and regulatory frameworks of real estate markets. His research addresses doctrinal and legal-structural issues related to affordable and fair housing, property theory, and the constitutional dimensions of property law. Davidson is recognized for his contributions to urban law, particularly regarding the constitutional and administrative aspects of urban governance and the legal relationships between states and local governments. He has published extensively in top law journals, including the Columbia Law Review and the Yale Law Journal, and has co-authored multiple influential books on urban law and the sharing economy. Before his academic career, Davidson practiced commercial real estate law at Latham & Watkins LLP, focusing on corporate mergers, private equity in real estate, and land-use planning. He has held significant roles within government organizations, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the New York State Housing Finance Agency, where he chaired the New York City Rent Guidelines Board. Davidson earned his A.B. from Harvard College and his J.D. from Columbia Law School, later serving as a law clerk for Judge David S. Tatel and Justice David H. Souter.
