Biography

Nestor Kruger is an Associate Professor in Studio Art at the University of Guelph, where he focuses on the intersection of digital media and traditional artistic practices. His work involves utilizing computer software to enhance unique artistic marks, allowing for an exploration of new qualities in art. He employs techniques such as mirroring, duplication, and simulation, which are common in the digital environment, to reflect on patterns found in daily life through the production of images and forms. Kruger's methods also engage with the text and objects within the exhibition space to create a sense of familiarity mixed with uncertainty in the viewer's experience. He has participated in numerous local and international exhibitions, including events at the Frankfurter Kunstverein in Germany and the Sharjah Biennial in the UAE, and has held solo exhibitions at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, and the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. He currently teaches Digital Media Sculpture, contributing significantly to the discourse of contemporary art practice.
