Biography

Nevil Quinn is a Professor of Applied Hydrology at UWE Bristol. He holds several qualifications, including BSc (Hons) in Hydrology from the University of Natal, where he graduated cum laude, and a PhD in Environmental Hydrology, with research focused on developing ecological models for managing freshwater inflows to estuaries. He also earned a Master of Laws in Environmental Law, with a dissertation on transboundary water law. Before joining UWE in 2004, Nevil worked as a consultant and contract researcher, ultimately becoming the Program Director for the Master's programme at the Centre for Environment and Development at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has contributed significantly to the field of hydrology, particularly in Africa, and has served as Editor-in-Chief of Hydrology Research. Nevil is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and is a Chartered Environmentalist. His research interests include hydrology, water resource management, flood risk management, water policy, law, and environmental impact assessment, particularly concerning water resources.
