Biography

Neville Weber graduated with a PhD from the University of Sydney in 1981 and has spent his entire career at the University of Sydney. He has held visiting positions at prestigious institutions such as the University of Cambridge, University of Michigan, University of British Columbia, and University of Ottawa. In addition to his academic roles, Weber has been recognized with Chartered Statistician (C.Stat.) status approved by the Royal Statistical Society in 1995 and Accredited Statistician (A.Stat.) status from the Statistical Society of Australia Inc in 1998. He served as Head of School in 2010 and was Deputy Head from 2004 to 2007. Furthermore, he held the position of Associate Dean (Postgraduate Research) in the Faculty of Science from 2004 to 2009. Weber was Chair of the Australian Council of Heads of Mathematical Sciences from 2011 to 2012 and received Honorary Life Membership from the Statistical Society of Australia Inc in 2001. His editorial duties include serving as Associate Editor for several journals including the Bulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society and the Australian Journal of Statistics. He has a long-standing involvement with secondary mathematics syllabus committees and has played key roles in various educational assessment bodies in New South Wales.
