Biography

Dr. Nga Lee (Sally) Ng is a Professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research primarily focuses on aerosol chemistry, air quality, and health effects associated with atmospheric nanoparticles. Through combining laboratory experiments and field measurements, Dr. Ng seeks to understand the formation and evolution of aerosols while investigating their life cycles, including sources, processes, and fates. Her laboratory experiments include the study of specific compounds in controlled oxidation environments, allowing for detailed characterization of aerosol composition and their physical and chemical properties. Furthermore, Dr. Ng’s group is dedicated to linking the chemical composition of atmospheric nanoparticles to health effects, utilizing chemical assays to assess the generation of reactive species due to particulate matter exposure. Dr. Ng also contributes to the development and characterization of advanced aerosol instrumentation to monitor aerosol mass and composition in real-time. She holds a joint appointment with the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
