Biography

Ngai-Man Cheung received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, CA, in 2008. His doctoral research focused on image and video coding, which was supported by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Following his Ph.D., Cheung served as a postdoctoral researcher in the Image and Video Multimedia Systems group at Stanford University, where he carried out significant research in multimedia data processing. He has also held research positions in various distinguished organizations, including Texas Instruments Research Center Japan, Nokia Research Center, IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, HP Labs Japan, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). His industrial work has led to the granting of 6 U.S. patents. Cheung's research interests include developing advanced algorithms for efficient processing of multimedia data and exploring collaborative interdisciplinary research that applies signal processing and multicore technology to address various challenges.
