Biography

Nguyen Nguyen is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program at Texas A&M University, where he earned his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University. His advanced training includes a certification in Psychological Methods Analysis. As a licensed psychologist in Texas, Nguyen's research is concentrated on advancing health equity for racially and ethnically marginalized communities, with a particular focus on chronic pain and integrated behavioral health care. His work examines the intersection of social, emotional, and physical pain, highlighting the interpersonal, cultural, and structural forces that shape pain experiences and access to effective care. Furthermore, Nguyen investigates psychosocial contextual factors that facilitate resilience and perpetuate disparities in pain assessment, treatment, and outcomes. His scholarship also explores the emerging role of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in chronic pain experiences and health-related behaviors. Nguyen leads the Health, Empowerment, Advocacy (HEAL) Lab, collaborating with a team of graduate and undergraduate research assistants to engage in impactful research that bridges health psychology and technology to promote health equity.
