Biography

CTO-in-residence at the UCL School of Management and Lead Technologist for Innovation Entrepreneurship at UCL Engineering, Niall Roche provides technology mentorship for UCL spin-out companies based in IDEALondon and StartupBootcamp’s IoT accelerator. He has taught Mobile Web courses for the World Wide Web Consortium, focusing on defining web standards. Niall has worked as a Software Engineer and CTO consultant for numerous startups, building telecom solutions for mobile app software used by mobile network operators, banks, and airlines. He teaches Software Engineering courses for the IMB programme at the School of Management and also conducts courses on Predictive Analytics and Programming for Business Analytics in the M.Sc. Business Analytics curriculum. Niall is part of the UCL Institute for Communications and Connected Systems (ICCS) and works on the EU 5G project TRIANGLE, which explores the use of a pre-5G Testbed built for TRIANGLE to innovate 5G networks and infrastructure. He has advised the UK government on 5G Testbed Trials programmes and has participated in parliamentary briefings related to 5G innovation. Additionally, Niall is involved in the Facebook Telecom Infrastructure (TIP) project and has a keen interest in Disruptive Technologies including Machine Learning and Distributed Ledger Technologies.
