Biography

Niamh Dell is an oboist researcher specializing in complex virtuosic new music. Her career spans Australia, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Niamh has performed at renowned venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Kölner Philharmonie, and Hessischer Rundfunk, as well as festivals including Gaudeamus Muziekweek in Utrecht and Strasbourg’s Musica Festival. She graduated with first class honours from the University of Western Australia and has received numerous accolades, including the Sir Harold Bailey Memorial Prize, Lady Callaway Medal, and the Royal Overseas League Honours Prize for Music Performance. Niamh undertook her Master’s at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt and is currently pursuing her PhD in solo contemporary oboe performance at the University of York in the UK. She is a member of the Strasbourg-based new music collective lovemusic, which is a recipient of the prestigious 2025 Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung Ensemble Prize. Niamh collaborates on solo and ensemble projects with various composers and is involved in practice research that explores phenomenology in contemporary performance through a layered lens of musical habitus.
