Biography

Niamh Moloney specializes in European Union financial markets regulation. She is an Educated at Trinity College Dublin and Harvard Law School. Niamh is a Fellow of the British Academy, an Honorary Member of the Royal Irish Academy, and a Member of Academia Europaea. She was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Zurich. Niamh's major works include "EU Securities Financial Markets Regulation" (4th edition, 2023) and "Governing EU Financial Markets" (2018). She is an editorial board member for the European Law Review and co-editor of the "Oxford Handbook of Financial Regulation", and serves as Series Editor for the Cambridge University Press Series on International Corporate Law and Financial Market Regulation. Niamh is also an External Member of the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Committee and has served as an independent, non-executive director on the board of the Central Bank of Ireland, as Chair of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare, and has provided advisory services on various regulatory matters to the UK Parliament. Her research interests focus on the regulatory frameworks and governance of EU financial markets, particularly consumer markets and the role of ESMA. Niamh has actively contributed to discussions around the implications of Brexit on financial services and regulation.
