Nian Liu is an Associate Professor and Robert G. Miller Faculty Fellow at the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology. Liu's research focuses on high-energy, low-cost, and ultra-safe battery technologies, as well as application-driven nanoscale materials design and manufacturing. He employs in-situ diagnostics to gain a fundamental understanding of strategically important chemical and physical processes. With expertise in nanomaterials for high-energy batteries, Liu develops light microscopy techniques to visualize battery reactions. He has authored or co-authored 60 published papers and received prestigious awards, including the Young Investigator Award from the American Chemical Society’s Division of Inorganic Chemistry in 2015 and the Electrochemical Society’s Daniel Cubicciotti Award in 2014. Liu was also selected to present at the 2015 Rising Stars in Chemistry Symposium organized by the University of Chicago.
