Dr. Nicholas Biddle

Biography

Professor Nicholas Biddle is the Head of the School of Politics and International Relations at the Australian National University. He previously served as Deputy Director at the ANU Centre for Social Research Methods, overseeing methods, survey, and evaluation programs. He holds a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from the University of Sydney, a Master of Education from Monash University, and a PhD in Public Policy from ANU, where he focused his thesis on the benefits of educational participation for Indigenous Australians. His career includes significant roles such as Senior Research Officer and Assistant Director at the Methodology Division of the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Currently, he is also a Fellow at the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute and contributes to the Behavioural Economics Team Australia (BETA) and the Australian Statistics Advisory Council. Outside academia, Biddle has a passion for music and participates in marathons and ultramarathons, demonstrating his commitment to maintaining a balance between professional and personal interests. He is actively involved in research focusing on socio-economic backgrounds and education, with ongoing projects that address family law and Indigenous educational methodologies.
