Biography

Dr. Nicholas Cothros is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Queen's University. He completed his Master of Science and PhD in neuroscience at the University of Western Ontario before graduating with his MD from the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University. Following his education, he returned to the University of Western Ontario for residency training in adult neurology and pursued a clinical fellowship in epilepsy and electroencephalography. Dr. Cothros's clinical focus includes tic disorders, Tourette syndrome, dystonia, and the injection of botulinum toxin for the treatment of movement disorders. He has a keen interest in various forms of Parkinson’s disease and parkinsonism, tremor, cerebellar ataxia, drug-induced movement disorders, and Huntington's disease, among heritable movement disorders. His research interests encompass human motor control and behavioral/cognitive neuroscience, reflecting his commitment to the ongoing study and treatment of neurological conditions. Dr. Cothros has been supported by multiple awards, including the Young Investigator Award from the Tourette Association of America and the Parkinson Alberta Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
