Biography

Nicholas DiZinno earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida. He has worked extensively in varied industries including aerospace, product design, manufacturing, and vehicle engineering emissions reduction. After working with MTA New York City Transit, he returned to graduate school part-time at Polytechnic University, earning a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering. He subsequently entered the PhD program at Poly and joined the faculty at Queensborough Community College. After earning his doctorate, Professor DiZinno joined the faculty of SUNY Maritime College and served as an adjunct faculty member at Polytechnic University and NYU Tandon from 2008 to 2018. In 2018, he joined NYU Tandon full-time as an Industry Associate Professor and was promoted to Industry Professor in 2022. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and mentors various student groups. He is also active in the Long Island section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and he holds a New York State Professional Engineer license.
