Biography

Nicholas Eftimiades retired from the Department of Defense with a 34-year government career that includes employment with the CIA and serving as a Special Agent in the Department of State's Bureau of Diplomatic Security. He has worked as a Senior Intelligence Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), holding significant positions involving analysis and human technical intelligence collection. His overseas assignments have included Vienna, Frankfurt, Moscow, London, and Tokyo. His career at DIA featured senior assignments such as Chief of Counterterrorism Operations and roles in the Transnational Issues Division, Futures Division, and Space Division. He has been awarded the National Intelligence Council Achievement Award and the DIA Director's Intelligence Award, which is the agency's highest recognition. As an expert in his field, Nicholas has provided congressional testimony and briefings for numerous Members of Congress and their staff. He has held senior appointments on the DoD Defense Science Board and the Department of Homeland Security's Advisory Council, among others. He is a Senior Research Fellow at King’s College War Studies Department in London and has authored influential books and articles on national security, including 'Chinese Intelligence Operations' and 'Chinese Espionage: Operations Tactics.' He frequently lectures and speaks on topics related to technology, space, and national security.
