Biography

Nicholas D. Evans earned a B.S. from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2016, followed by an M.A. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2019, and a Ph.D. in Social Cultural Psychology in 2022. He joined the Department of Psychology at the University of Manitoba as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2022. Nicholas is the Director of the Personality, Relationships, Emotion, Social Cognition, & Identity (PRESCI) Lab, where his research primarily focuses on the intersection of personality, social psychology, and social cognition. His work explores the interplay of emotional, cognitive, and behavioral processes that influence how individuals perceive and make sense of social worlds. Key research interests include the cognitive components of interpersonal benefits of nostalgia and metaphor use, particularly in romantic relationships. Additionally, he investigates the psychological interpersonal processes involved in intellectual humility and science denialism.
