Nicholas Gottardo is a mid-career clinician and scientist who graduated from the Leeds School of Medicine in 1993 and obtained his PhD in molecular biology in 2008 at the University of Western Australia. He is a practicing consultant Paediatric Oncologist and Neuro-Oncologist at Perth Children’s Hospital, where he was appointed Head of the Paediatric Adolescent Oncology and Haematology Department in 2015. His research includes the development of a spontaneous mouse model for ependymoma and establishing the Brain Tumour Research Programme at the Telethon Kids Institute. Gottardo is also a member of several prominent groups within paediatric cancer research, including the Children’s Oncology Group and the International Medulloblastoma Working Group. His work has been recognized nationally and internationally, and he has been involved in high-impact research leading to advancements in therapies for childhood brain tumours.
