Biography

Prof. Green completed his BA, MA, and DPhil in Chemistry at Jesus College, Oxford. He subsequently held a SERC Research Fellowship and a Junior Research Fellowship at Jesus College, followed by a period at the Radiation Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame in the USA. Prof. Green returned to Oxford as a Tutorial Fellow in Physical Chemistry at Magdalen College and was later appointed to a Lectureship at King’s College London, where he remained for 15 years, becoming a Reader in Chemistry and Deputy Head of the Department. In 2006, he returned to Oxford as Director of Studies and Chair of the Faculty of Chemistry, and in 2023 he became the Associate Head of the Department (Teaching). In 2014, Prof. Green received the Oxford University Individual Teaching Award for excellence in teaching. He has chaired the Miller Conference on Radiation Chemistry, the European equivalent of the Gordon Conference in the area, and is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences on Radiation Chemistry.
