Biography

Nicholas Hauck is an Associate Professor at Brock University in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures. His research focuses on translation as an embodied encounter, exploring the interconnectedness of text, body, and performance within aural and oral experiences. He has written several books, including 'L’inhumain poétique' (2022), which offers a critical study of ontophonics in 20th century French poetry, and 'Walter Benjamin' (2015), which provides an exploration of Benjamin's ideas in contemporary thought. Hauck is actively involved in translation, translating works by 20th and 21st century writers. In 2020, he co-founded the Toronto Experimental Translation Collective, which aims to renegotiate relationships among languages and media through collaborative seminars, workshops, and performances. Hauck also serves as a co-editor for Brock's Small Walker Press and teaches various French courses focused on translation and literature.
