Dr. Nicholas Makhoul

Biography

Dr. Nicholas Makhoul is an experienced clinician and educator specializing in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. He serves as the Chief of the Department of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at McGill University's McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). In addition, he holds the position of Associate Dean for Postgraduate Dental Education and is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences. His extensive training includes a BSc from the University of Alberta, Doctor of Dental Medicine from McGill University, and an MD from the University of Michigan, where he also completed his residency and fellowship in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. His research interests focus on quality assurance in head and neck oncology, treatment delays in oral cancer, and clinical care pathways in microvascular maxillofacial surgery. He has contributed significantly to literature in this field, emphasizing the importance of patient quality of life in treatment outcomes. Dr. Makhoul is committed to advancing the field through both clinical practice and research, ensuring comprehensive care for his patients.
