Biography

Nicholas Touikan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of New Brunswick. He is a geometric group theorist whose research focuses on the study of groups through geometric objects, particularly finitely generated groups and the ways in which they can be explored via their geometry and algebraic structures. His work addresses computational problems within the context of groups and their fundamental groups, using methods from low-dimensional topology to advance the understanding of group theory. He is particularly interested in how groups can exhibit interesting properties at large scales, specifically those with large-scale negative curvature.
