Dr. Nicholas Vrousalis

Biography

Nicholas Vrousalis is an Associate Professor of Practical Philosophy at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has a background in economics from the University of Cambridge and obtained his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Oxford. His academic focus includes moral and political philosophy, economic ethics, and the history of philosophy, with teaching experience at prestigious institutions such as the University of Cambridge, Leiden University, and KU Leuven. Vrousalis has held fellowships at Aarhus University, Princeton University, and Harvard University, and he has published extensively in journals including Philosophy & Public Affairs, Economics & Philosophy, Journal of Ethics, and the Kantian Review. In 2023, his monograph titled 'Exploitation and Domination' was published by Oxford University Press. In 2019, he received the Vidi grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research for his project investigating the relationship between freedom and economic inequality. Vrousalis also co-leads the Digital Society theme within the SSH-Breed program at Erasmus University.
