Dr. Nicholas Watson

Biography

Nicholas Watson is the Henry B. Anne M. Cabot Professor of English Literature at Harvard University. His research interests encompass Medieval English Literature, Theology, and Intellectual History, with a specific focus on the Global Middle Ages, Poetry, Hagiography, Historiography, Medieval Latin, French England, Mysticism, Visionary Writing, Magic, and Medieval Women’s Writing Literary Culture. Watson encourages graduate students to apply and welcomes discussions on literature, its historical context, and its intersections with politics, environment, and religious beliefs. He holds a B.A. and M.A. from Cambridge University, an M.Phil. from Oxford University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. Throughout his career, Watson has published numerous works that explore critical themes in medieval literature and culture.
