Biography

Nicholas White specializes in Nineteenth-Century French literature, with significant focus on issues of war, friendship, love, marriage, and family, along with methods of cultural and literary history. In 1993, he took a faculty position at London University and returned to Cambridge in 2002, where he became a Fellow of Emmanuel College. He has been involved in various significant academic committees and projects, including the Cambridge Master's programme in European, Latin American and Comparative Literatures and Culture. His recent research has explored themes in French war literature and the representation of personal relationships in the 19th century.
